Chris is a graduate of University College London (LL.B (Hons)) and a solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales (non-practising). Prior to joining Vannin Capital, Chris spent nearly a decade in the City in the private equity team at Weil, Gotshal & Manges and the corporate team at Olswang.
He has worked with some of the world’s leading private equity funds on predominately international acquisitions, disposals and restructurings, including a role as co-lead associate on Blackstone and Lion Capital’s multi-billion Euro disposal of the Orangina Schweppes Group to Suntory for which Weil won Private Equity Law Firm of the Year at the Legal Business Awards in February 2010.
Chris has spent time on secondment to the Silicon Valley office of Weil, Premier Foods and the Asset Protection Agency, where he significantly broadened his practice, and has acted on a pro bono basis for a number of charitable organisations and social enterprises including Bridges Ventures.
He was also an academic mentor at the Harris Academy in Bermondsey, South East London from 2005 to 2013 and is now responsible for Vannin Capital’s corporate social responsibility policy managing our ongoing relationship with the Bar Pro Bono Unit.
Outside of law, Chris has setup a telecoms business offering discounted international calling from ten countries, which he partially exited in 2005, and is an active angel investor having invested in companies including MoPowered (AIM: MPOW) and Nearbuy Systems (acquired by RetailNext).
