John Kingston - Head of Investments

John Kingston

Head of Investments

John joined Vannin in February 2015 and has spent his entire career in the legal profession. Until 2008 he was a partner in Travers Smith, where he founded the Litigation Department in 1978, practising commercial litigation and arbitration, both domestic and international.

As well as continuing to be a non-practising solicitor, John has also been called to the Bar at Gray’s Inn and, having completed his pupillage at Essex Court Chambers in early 2014, has built on his skills to refine his appreciation and understanding of contentious legal practice.

In 2003, John was appointed as a Recorder of the Crown Court, and sits in both criminal and civil matters on the South Eastern Circuit.

John’s interest in third party litigation funding began while he was in private practice, where he saw its potential for providing access to justice in the commercial arena. This led him to accept a position as Director of Litigation Funding with Harbour Litigation Funding, where he worked for four years until July 2014. Working in the litigation funding industry has given him invaluable experience and insight into the funding process and the skills it requires for its successful operation.
