Well I put a timing chain in my 76 ford not too long ago with a 351w. I took out the radiator after draining the system. Then remove the fan, belts, waterpump, upper and lower pulleys and harmonic balancer. Be sure to line up the number 1 piston to tdc, it makes it easier later.take the first 4 bolts from front of oil pan to help remove timing cover. this will give you access to the timing chain I would get the complete timing set and put the new gears in also. A double row chain set is better and lasts longer in my opinion. Remove the old chain and gears and be sure to line up the dots on the new gears to insure a proper installation. A word of advice, before installing the new crank gear, place it in a pot of water and boil it for say 10 minutes. This expands the steel and it should slide right into place. Then align the dots on cam gear to the one on crank gear and replace the chain. Replace the parts that came off. I always clean and paint anything that needs it at this time. Just take your time, go slow and you should be fine...Good luck...Jim

Yep, Jim said it all, you could however use a small torch (little $10 Cylinder type) to lightly heat the Crank Gear as well, I don't know about you guys, but my wife would BEAT SOME ASS if I was boiling a car part INSIDE out of a pot we eat out of. Jims idea is just as good though!!

Ecovanner, I personally have a set of pots and cooky sheets I bought from the Salvation Army to use just for auto parts, like heating a gear so it goes on easier, or boiling a thermostat to test its operation (use a cooking therm to check the temp where the therm opens) All kinds of stuff like that.
You might also want to add one more post Ecovanner, kinda scarey there with the 666 buddy! lol
