I don't (never had) have a backup light switch / safety neutral switch for my 1975 Chevy G10, 350 /350 setup. I see one on the electrical schematics and I am assuming that the switch is mechanical and is mounted on the linkage on the tranny.....Is that correct?
Can someone tell me where I can find one or what I can do to get my backup lights working and have the van on start in Park or neutral?

Not sure what year GM moved the neutral safety switch from the transmission to the steering column in the G-Vans.
If it is down on the transmission, you will find it on the drivers side of the trans. It will be connected with a linkage and have wires coming out of it. Sometimes they go bad and sometimes they can get out of adjustment.
If it's on the steering column, you need to look for this.

Hope this helps,Brad

Thanks Brad, I ended up buying an aftermarket one for a turbo 350 and now have neutral safety & backup lights.

My back up lights only work if I shift from drive or neutral to reverse. If I go from park to reverse they don't work. Guess I'll settle for that until they quit entirely.
