Lets hope that idea works. The last thing you need is a perfectly good visor dieing a premature death.
What happened to the light bar?

Funny you should say that. When I went to see the van I have now, all I could see was the front. It was tucked between the house and garage. Barely enough room to open the door to get in. When it started and pulled out my heart sank and goose bumps raised. The color, the rims and tires, and the sound. This was going to be my van. And it did become mine.

If you do it, let us know if it works or not. And include pics!!

Lightbar is still tucked inches away from the trailing edge of the visor.
Lightbar page here

Sidepipes are going on next week, then back to bull bar construction (just ordered the winch today)

Here are a bunch of pix on what I did to make the Phoenix's visor solid. As you can see in the first picture how mine was pulling the metal until it started to have some cracks, I made a spacer to go in between the hollow part of the sheet metal, then made an 1/8" stainless steel back up plate. I siliconed the crap out of the holes and used 1/4" Stainless screws and washers and stepped up the washers to a 5/16" for stability and cranked them down tight. I had my wife on the platform I made on my lift holding a giant screwdriver, while I tightened everything. If you let that visor flex too long it will start cracking out the sheet metal and then you've got big problems. The sides have nothing to do with the middle vibrating so just secure them as usual with some good screws and silicone adhesive / sealer. Good luck I know it is not good to see your visor going up and down, It is just a dumb inanimate object do not let it get the best of you. You are smarter than it is , you'll get it.

So nobody has done this on a chevy? I feel like the z bar idea under the rib to the gutter drip rail ledge will make the design susceptible to rust and problems down the road.

Phoenix is great, but thats on a dodge, and our paneling and ribbing is quite a bit different on a chevy

Help?

I wonder how much of the issue is due to combination of having the visor and the bulky light bar. That's got to play hell with the aerodynamics

None whatsoever. The visor was on almost a year before the light bar was finished with the same issue.

Mine is mounted with the rubber expanding T-bolts like Boot posted. After they were in about a week or so I retightened 'em and have had no problems since. The visor does shake a little at 65+mph.

That seemed to be the answer, long machine screws and rubber gaskets through the top of the visor in the center (like phoenix, through the sheet, and just under the lip of the headliner. It goes into an expansion nut sealing with the rubber. And after tightening down only buffets a small amount when trucks pass and weird aerodynamics on the freeway. Other than that- Its back to good. I have to recheck now with getting the window replaced, but all in all, looking a lot better.

If you are still having a problem use this..as long as there are flush areas to apply. I never installed a visor but if you want to secure a reinforcement bar or plate on the underside of your visor this is very user friendly. (Although it took 2 months for the adhesive to ware off my hands.) You could also cut a "square" to put onto the mounting area b4 screwing in place. Test fit b/c you will never get it off if everthing doesn't line up. lol
I guarantee if you use this "tape" it will never ever vibrate or wobble or come off again. It was not developed for van visors but is used by NASA...though I don't know on what or where it was used. It's expensive and I've used it on other projects.

If I ever get to an interior I am buying a roll for all of my interior panels, sub-flooring and carpeting. No screws for me...unless it's on top of the carpet. devil

Nora Dryfix tape.
