I just ordered them doesnt mesn Im jumping on changing them out yet but if I have a chance to get a set of rare window seals, I get my seals now cause I know Im going to do this aahhhh......soon

If I wait till Im really going to do it they might not have any more....what then...as Wiz said to me once "those Chevy guys always have spares laying around"......better safe than S O L...

Cant tell you how long I looked for 1 set when I had the '92 painted and they looked like yours....cleaned them up made new plates and put them back on....If I had a new set that would have been a victory but I just won the battle not the war on rust....

On the topic of fitting, ho do they go in (and out)?

Dose the window sit in the seal?
Is the seal in one part or two (inside & outside)?
Is the window/seal unit then just pushed into the aperture and then the rivets applied?

ps if you have trouble with shipping give us a shout and you can get them sent to me and ill then forward them on to you..

I didnt do the last ones did make the plates but Mark's glass took them out while it was at the apulstry shop & reinstalled I wasnt there for that either I was in San Francisco fora month, when I returned it was done....I did have a issue when the 1st rivet they put in was way too deep and the rivet when thru the top lair of the seal....he tried to use a stainless rivet and it required too much pressure to snap the stem& pull thru, use alum rivets...

I took the van up to Edinburgh at the weekend to see the guy im getting to do the restoration work, so he said he may be able to get the seals manufactured once he gets a cross section of (if so frscke1, would you want a set?)

So options i see it is

1) Get new seals manufactured (Most desired solution)
2) Remove windows and panel them up (dont want to do this, but it is an option)
3) Remove and replace with more common donnar windows (could be a compromise between 1 & 2)
4) re-use seal, cut out the bad sections where plates are and somehow cap that section to look like it is still part of the seal (could be possible, not figured that out yet)

Dont get your hopes up on the manufacturing of new seals..thats a big tooling cost.....When I did the '92 the seals that came out were still good...yes the steel plate area's needed some attention ....but after Marks glass cleaned them up and I got him the new ALUM plates all was good.....I have a small problem with the '93 windows but the problem is not in the rivet area...I have a small cancer spot in the corner of the window & I will reuse the seals.....IF he does make a set for you & you have NO problems with newly manufactured seals yes I would like a set.....

the seals are good but i would be surprised if the are around at least half the plates could be salvageable.

ye i know what you mean, i would expect it to be quite difficult to get the seals manufactured but see what his guys say. thats why im trying to come up with as many alternatives as possible, as soon as we pull the windows im committed to doing something so backup plans in abundance.

Dont put the steel plates back in....make ALUM ones & use Alum rivets...if he does make the seals I bet that they dont have the plate area in them for the rivets ....
