What causes my Speedometer to jump all over the place when I start the van? It jumps a little when I'm on the road.

Not sure if you're speedo used a cable or not in '90 but it's either the speed sensor on the transmission or a bad cable.

If it does have a cable bob, i had an Astro that was bad about that. I unplugged the cable from the back of the speedo and squirted a few shots of lightweight oil down the cable, that helped it alot.

If you have the cable design with factory cruise control, it's very easy to pull the cable out of the housings.. clean, lube & reinstall them.

What year is it? Late model ? Watch out, Do you have a Limited slip rear end? Now days the speedo sensor is in the rear end same as my Ram Pick-up. I was in Colorado and mine started acting up and my clutches were coming apart in the rear end. They called me back and pulled the sensor out and it was covered with metal shards. They had to strip out the whole housing and flush it out and completely rebuild it with all new parts that were not savable. Great dealership out there called Christopher Dodge, VERY big, had five Vipers in the showroom, The tech stayed over most of the night to get us done as we were leaving to come home the next day. These guys went overboard to save us , Another reason to love Mopar. Most dealerships except Las Vegas have always treated us great if we had a problem. Las Vegas' Desert Dodge screwed us , lied and overcharged us in every way they thought they could get away with , until I contacted Dodge with hard evidence of what they did to me and busted them. OOPS I went off didn't I...Sorry. Just keep an eye out for that rear end.

Well the other day I was under van and i played with the sensor. turned it a few times and unplugged the connector and plugged it back in. no more problems so it was in the sensor or connection.
