So I've have been wanting to install a Denali/Yukon/Tahoe type of rear seat in my van for awhile. I wanted one because I have kids and these seats have built in shoulder style seat belts. Well I found one today on Craigslist for a good deal and mocked it up. I took out the circa 1980 rear seat but used the frame it was mounted on to install the Denali seat. I had to do some grinding on the frame to get it to fit and I'll need to get some round rod to run across the seat base to be able to lock the seat in place still. The old seat measured 57" wide and this Denali "3rd row" seat measures 47" wide. I would need to fabricate some arm rest/cabinets to take up the void spaces between the seat and the walls over the wheel wells. Any way what do you all think? I like the safety but comfort and space is sacrificed to use this style seat. If it was wider or if I knew of a vehicle with a wider seat it might be better. Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Seat looks good. Put some storage cabinets beside it and it would be legit. Safety is really important, specially when it comes to children.

I really like it, I am actually thinking about using a Astro high end rear seat for my kids in Wolf-Den. The one that has the fold down center console .
Anyway, I am REALLY liking this one too. . . . make arm rest/storage units to fill in the void, will look killer.

Yeah I think I'll start penciling out my ideas for arm rests. I'm thinking arm rest/storage/accessory plug/cup holder with a slide out tray kind of like a lazy Susan slide out style. Hmmmmmm..
