I just purchased a 2000 Astro, 2WD, and want to install some larger wheels. I have 15 X 7 rims with 225/60-15s on my '90 AWD. The door rubs them when opened. Am I going to have the same problem with the 2000 2WD? What is the largest rim/tire combo that will fit? I would like at least a 16" rim.

You should have no problems with the wheels you have. A 15x8 wheel, with the correct backspacing shouldn't be a problem. I think you need something like a 4-4.5" backspacing to make them fit w/o the door hitting.

The best size wheel is a 17x8. Tire size 235,45 for the front and 245,45 for the rear.I've got 17x8 on my front and 17,9.5in the back.Tires are 245,45 front 275,40 back. You can also put 285,40 on back.My van has 2"springs,and flipkit It does not rub the fender wells. Oh yea It has a 350 to so thare's xtra weight on the front. Fastro85@aol.com

I have a 2000 AWD Safari with 18 x 8.5 rims with zero offset(4.25" backspacing), tires are 255/45r18's. The only place that rubs is the front tires on the swaybar when turning the steering to it's limits. I've lowered the front about 2" but not the rear(yet). this wheel size fits, and fills the wheelwells nicely(not tucking rim, more of a G-machine look). I've seen 20's on a 'stro in magazines, but they're probably trailer queens that can't turn the steering wheel, besides 18's look pretty big and were plenty expensive enough.
