That's a sweet Ford. The 2nd gen is probably my favorite body style. There was another sweet Ford fire van on Ebay a few weeks back out of PA.

WOW WOW WOW As far as I can remember, there were 68 1/2 Fords...But I think they were actually 69. The 67 econo ran long production into the 68 model year, then the change was made. I am sure someone can decode the VIN and tell you the build date! Nice van! Keeping it Original?????

for all purposes the claim is that no 68 exists for this body style... they were all really 69' with production starting early due to change over and strike. But, consecutive unit numbers in monthly blocks of serial number were assigned beginning with November 1967.
this char/numbers are presented on the metal tag... warranty no.. example: E133GHC42000
max G.V.W... example: 90 T E130 55 82 G 07 * * * 72 Note: the 72 was on the next line down between the G and 07...
so, if you can tell me the info... I may be able to tell you more...
By the way... nICE van.

Thanks guys. I'll be patching holes from the siren and lights that were removed by the dept. They did give me a clear bubble gum light for the top, but since it wasn't the original one, I refuse to put it on because I don't want to drill more holes. It also had a light bar on at one time, so there are holes in the windshield posts. All the holes are silicone covered now. Also, the black circle behind the driver's door is from a flood light. That will require more than bondo. I'll put in a temporary interior consisting of carpet and paneling for next Summer. I'll probably keep the outside looking the same for a year or two. There are a few scrapes and two or three minor dents, but it's as solid as they come. I have all kinds of ideas running through my head right now. I think I should hold off until I can really decide on one plan. It's heading into storage until March. Because I live in and apartment, I'm at a loss for a place to do any work on it until then. But, one day it'll be in the show-n-shine line... HAHA!!!
