Vannin.Com is dedicated to vanning and vanners everywhere.
Our mission here is to provide an information service to all vanners, van-clubs, van-councils and related organizations in the hope of bringing vanners everywhere closer together and to promote the sport of custom vanning.
For those of you new to vanning, or who have somehow stumbled across us, vanning is a culture unlike anything else you may have ever dealt with.
To quote a friend of mine;"If Bikers are the Modern day Cowboys, then I guess Vanners would be the Modern day Gypsies. Actually Vanners and Bikers do about the same stuff, but nobody ever died of carpet rash (vs. road) falling down in their van."Big Steve
Vanners are like a big family, they will travel for hours, even days to see each other on a regular basis. They watch out for each other, they celebrate together, and sometimes... they mourn together.
Vanners are a diverse bunch brought together by their common love for the sport of vanning. Some people like to just camp out of their vans, while other prefer to make their van into something more them. Sometimes that is just curtains and a bed, for others its something they put their all into, chopping, gull wings, tubbing,..
It's amazing what you can do with a van.
Whatever level of vanning you may enjoy, you do it because you want to.
Vanning is also a very social event, we do some wild and crazy things, and consume more than our fair share of alcohol.
But we do things responsibly. Vanners don't drink and drive. Period.
It makes it very hard to enjoy vanning without a license.
If you are new to all of this, drop us a line, we would be glad to provide you with whatever information you want and hopefully get you on the vannin trail.
Vannin.Com went online in August of 1997, and has proceeded to grow from there.
The idea came to me after the Virtual Nats. I had the money for the domain name and server, and felt I had the HTML skills under control enough to try it, so I did.
I also had a lot of encouragement from several other cyber-vanners out there along the way which has always been a big help.
It continues to grow and evolve as I come up with more ideas, either on my own or from you. I am always looking for new ideas to promote vanning on the internet and am always open to ideas from you.
Even though the logo at the top of the page says "Incorporated", this is NOT a commercial site. On July 31st, 2003 it was officially incorporated as a non-profit organization. This decision was made as a way to help turn the site into it's own entity.
